I participated today at the Säntis Classic in Weinfelden, Switzerland.
It is a non-timed event, similar to a German RTF but with guides and supported by accompanying cars and temporary road closures on dangerous crossings. It is in fact an interesting concept and different to all other events I participated. It eliminates the hectic and pressure in the cycling groups. It actually make it easier to participate and to finish as the guide controls the speed.
We made three stops during the trip. One just before the big climb to Schwägalp, one at the top and one about 25 km before the finish.
For me the Säntis Classic has been a very nice and charming bike event in a wonderful countryside and a very nice and carefully elaborated track. It is not too difficult with about 2.100 meters of elevation. There is just one major climb to Schwägalp with a length from the very bottom of about 12 km but interrupted with a longer period of an even track and even going down. The most difficult part is possibly the start of it with a longer uphill with 10-11%.
The goodie-bag was quite full compared to other events and the (for me) obligatory shirt was at a reasonable price.
