2nd Stage of Velothon Sunshine Coast

The second stage with a disctance of 88 km and just about 1.000 meter of elevation started at 6:45 am in Moffat Beach which is about 20 km away from our apartment. As it was quite far from the Club House in Maroochydore the organization of the event offered a bus shuttle which I booked. But it was supposed to leave at 5 am. So I got a lift from Eva to the starting line. The starting area was wonderful as it was located close to the beach. But how was everybody freezing!

After the start it took a while to warm up. But none of the steep short climbs appeared. It was a flat stage which we did in a peloton.

until the only three steep but short climbs of the day came up. At the first one I really felt my legs. But I survived all three. Also the finish line was about 20 km away so I also needed a lift back. It was a sprint finish slightly going up the hill in Pine Grove Road in Woombye. Finish area wasn't so nice so we went back home soon resting and recovering for the final stage.
